01About Maria

Maria Dmitrienko brings the discipline of the Russian classical school into a private, deeply personal format. Trained in the Vaganova tradition in St. Petersburg and shaped by 15 years at the Mikhailovsky Theatre, she works one-to-one with each student: posture, placement, musicality, strength and line, with every correction made for your body, your level and your goal.

We come to your home: Escazú, Santa Ana, San José and nearby areas (+$50). For a home class: 2×2 m clear, non-slip floor and a firm support. Prefer a studio? We arrange a private one in Escazú.

Cancellations

Free cancellation up to 24h before. With less than 24h, the full session is charged. Each package includes one courtesy reschedule, with at least 24h notice. Booking is confirmed by prepayment.

A stage background

Maria Dmitrienko trained at the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg both as a ballet dancer and as a teacher, and spent 15 years at the Mikhailovsky Theatre. That double training, to dance and to teach the Russian school, is what she brings into a private, one-to-one format for adults in Escazú and the Greater San José area.

Where are the ballet classes held?

Mainly at your home: Escazú, Santa Ana, San José and surrounding areas. If you prefer, we arrange a private studio in Escazú for your class. Always by appointment.

Can I start ballet as an adult with no experience?

Yes. We welcome complete beginners. We start from posture and fundamentals, in private one-on-one classes shaped to your adult body — no rush, no embarrassment.

What is the Vaganova method?

It's the classical Russian school of ballet. Maria Dmitrienko trained at the A.Ya. Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg and danced at the Mikhailovsky Theatre; today she teaches that technique in Costa Rica.

How much do adult ballet classes cost?

Every class is one-to-one with Maria: an artist of the Vaganova school, 15 years at the Mikhailovsky Theatre. Not a group, not an assistant. That is what the price reflects. The first class is $150 (60 min, extend to 75 at no cost). After that, private classes from $300 (60 min) and $420 (90 min), with 5- and 10-class packs. At home +$50 per session.

What languages are classes taught in?

Classes are mainly in Russian or English. Coordination can be in Spanish. If you need full Spanish support during the class, ask us before booking.
